The mission of the NextGen MediaMakers Festival is to provide a competitive outlet for students while creating a community around local professionals, businesses, and other organizations who are involved in the Santa Clarita Valley media industry.

The NextGen MediaMakers Festival aims to establish a support system and network for media professionals, businesses, and other organizations; and provide resources, events, classes & workshops, and more to create a shared knowledge database.

    Grant is a passionate professional with 8+ years in the post-production industry, skilled in VFX, Online Supervision, Color Correction Supervision, Sound Mixing Supervision, Financial Planning & Budgeting. Efficiency, effectiveness, and excellent organizational skills are his trademarks.

    Jessica has been working in media for the past 10 years where she worked in virtually every role of community television production. Her passion has been to provide storytelling opportunities to local nonprofits and future mediamakers through SCVTV's productions and educational opportunities.

  • Mitch Hacker

    Marketing Director at Intellicene

    Mitch is thrilled to join the NextGen MediaMakers. With strong connections to the Santa Clarita community, Mitch previously held the position of Associate Editor for Special Projects at The Signal in 2015. Recognized as one of SCV's 40 under Forty that year, Mitch has transitioned seamlessly from his editorial role to becoming a leader in the marketing field. His journey spans from the television industry to his current position, fostering a genuine passion for seamlessly merging community engagement with cutting-edge media initiatives.

  • Jackie Hartmann

    Retired HR Expert & Nonprofit Leader

    Jackie, who recently retired as the Executive Director of the SCV Education Foundation, currently serves on the Board of Directors of the SCV Senior Center, is a coach for Special Olympics and an ally for the Foster Youth Independence organization. She also spent 30 years as a Human Resources professional.

  • Paul Kass

    Broadcasting & Technology Instructor, Placerita Junior High

    Paul is a math and technology teacher for 30 years. He currently teaches at Placerita Junior High School in Newhall, Ca. When he started at Placerita, he created Kid Flix Productions as a way for students to make digital movies. 29 years later, he still oversees the program and produces Miner Morning TV, Miner Monthly TV, and a new podcast Miner Details. Paul’s other passion is in LEGO Robotics. Paul joined STN 21 years ago. After 12 years on the board, Paul will move into his position as Past President/Honorary Board Member for the 23-24 school year.

    Jordan is a video editor (he made our awesome PSA!) and archive media specialist. He’s digitized more than 1,000 historic and invaluable tapes in SCVTV’s archive.

    SCVTV Board of Directors & Co-Founder.

    Mike has over 35 years of experience as an Audio Engineer. He has a Grammy and 5 Emmy nominations for his work. He has been the Audio Supervisor for “Let’s Make A Deal” for the past 13 seasons. He is the VP and Chief Engineer at SCVTV and works with STN on their competitions and conventions.

  • Susan Shapiro

    SCVTV Board President

    Susan came to Santa Clarita in 1993 to manage the local public television channel – SCVTV – designing, equipping, and developing it into a communications venue showcasing the talents and activities of the City, local schools, and a variety of nonprofit arts, music, and community service organizations. As the Community Television Manager from 1993 to 2007 and subsequently as a volunteer Board member, Susan developed and provided support for hundreds of individual programs and series related to the visual and performing arts. Early on, she fostered relationships with video production instructors in the Hart School District and COC, turning SCVTV into a classroom laboratory for students. She's personally mentored countless young filmmakers and journalists, and has been an integral part of the Finding Art program which focuses on profiling arts & cultural people and organizations in Santa Clarita. Susan continues to voluntarily provide invaluable mentorship and professional support for SCVTV's day-to-day operations.

  • Wade Williams

    Industrial Arts Department chair, Film-Video Production/TV Broadcast and Saugus News Network teacher at Saugus High School.

    Wade has been in education for more than 30 years. He is a graduate of schools in the SCV and enjoys giving back to the community that gave him so much. He previously worked on the board for the SCV Film Festival, and has been entering his students in film festivals for over twenty years.
